New Riff Sherry Finish Malted Rye Whiskey

A fan favorite release, New Riff's Sherry Finish Malted Rye is distilled from a mash of 100% malted rye and aged for at least six years in new American oak before finishing in a combination of ex-Oloroso and ex-Pedro Ximenez Sherry casks. The whiskey is then bottled without chill filtration at a barrel proof of 117.3.  The nose shows its Sherry influence in aromas of dark fruit, roasted nut, and buttery oak with rye and baking spice present underneath. The palate offers flavors of rye appear first with baking spice and citrus peel before the Sherry influence peaks through with sweet fruit, malted chocolate, and a touch of walnut. The finish provides bright rye spice, clove, and menthol with and underlying note of ripe fruits.
